As discussed on our March 3rd podcast, I have put together a google spreadsheet that details the targets for a 5×5 roto league. These targets were derived from the ten 15-team leagues that I played in last year and should provide you a reasonable guideline to target as you draft your team over the next few weeks.
The roster composition is 2 catchers, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5 OF, Utility, and 9 Pitchers with weekly moves. If you are allowed daily moves in your leagues, the counting stats could increase by as much as 5-10% in each category.

Where would Mark Appel rank in ur top 100 prospects?
This year, I would have ranked him around 30…near Carlos Martinez. However, given the anticipated number of promotions in 2013, he could easily be a Top 20 ranked prospect this time next year.
Hey Rich, this is exactly what I needed getting ready for the NFBC league I signed up for that we talked about. Also, I ran one of my own based on an article from Razzball that calculated the 75th percentile of what you needed in the type of league discussed here from ESPN and Yahoo leagues last year. I simply upped the totals by 33% which might not be accurate really but it did come quite close to your stats. Runs and RBI were the two that came up a bit different – I plan to use yours! Thanks. Would the stats on line 12 be my targets if the league were a 12 team?

No. These are the total if you’re in a 15-team league and line 12 would indicate how many RUNS, SB, etc… that you would need to get 12 out of 15 possible point per category. In looking at older 12-team leagues that I’ve done I would up all cells by about 4-5%. In other words you would need 1160-70 RUNS to get 12 points, 1125 RUNS for 11 points, etc… So, substitute the 15 points (tops in a cat) to the 12 point line and take the values and multiply by 1.05. Make sense???
