I really do not know how Beane sleeps at night.
Does Robertson profile as maybe a Zobrist 2.0?
How does Rossell no a permant OF affect his ranking? The wrist injury and his road triple slash definitely has his stock down after multiple reports he really impressed in ’14 ST.
It was not a good year for Billy. I’m just not a huge fan of Robertson…Zobrist…third highest WAR over the past 6 years in the majors. That’s a really good player. If Robertson is Zobrist, boy was I wrong.
Zobrist WAR, like Alex Gordon, is impacted so much by the defense and with Zobrist, his PA, it really seems Zobrist is a player WAR may overrate. It’s also more about buying Zobrist on his downward slope than whoever the tweaner Robertson turns out to be. Beane selling Russell then Shark for that package just does not make any sense.
Why do all of the As SP get hurt?
Anderson, Milone, Griffen, Parker and more…just seems like they churn through a ton while always teaching that hammer CB
I guess you could line them all up to see what org has more TJS’s than the next. I think you’ll find it to be not statistically significant in terms who is gets hurt and who doesn’t. Just a thought.
Nope…not a big fan until he shows some type of approach that is more than see ball…hit ball. At some point, his .375 BABIP will normalize and with that, his batting average and OBP will drop and so will his playing time.
Rich, been listening to you and Tim for several years. Idea: Why not have one of the leagues you are forming called the Social Security League for us old guys 62+. If you are SS eligible you can enter. Us old guys have more time on our hands but we do not process things and multi task the way you young guys do! Lol What do you think? Dr. Paul
Brilliant, fantastic work as always Rich. This the the post I look forward to most in the year. What is it about fantasy geeks and lists, eh?
I know this may be a difficult one to answer, but here goes anyway. I assume you’ve never seen him in the flesh (?), but based on what you’ve heard from the industry insiders where abouts in the list do you think Yoan Moncada would fall? Not a hard and fast ranking, but perhaps a loose ballpark estimation? Inside the top 10?
There’s a ton of great prospects listed. Seems like the talent is getting deeper. Peraza, Mazara, Franco, Reyes, Conforto, Frazier, Alfaro…can’t wait to see the middle portion.
Rich, with Peddy signing that awful extension (to me) and Margot otw, do you think Betts eventually goes back to 2B? HanRam and Rusney are locked for LF and RF. Just seems like the Redsox could of swallowed the PR hit with letting Peddy walk, like NYY and Cano, while backfilling with premium young cheap talent. I don’t not like Peddy, I hope my son takes the same approach to the game, but I just do not see how they offer a 7yr extension to a 2B who’s power and Spd were already in decline.
Hey Maine, how do you move Pedroia? You probably know better than me, but isn’t he the Derek Jeter of Boston? Plus, he’s got 7 years left on that contract and I bet you Boston fans are bemoaning his contract more than Panda’s. Historically, second baseman do not age well in the game. That said, I think Betts would be great at second as he’s really athletic, but should work in center as well. Anyway, I’m a huge Betts fan and believe he’s a star in the making.
Watch out for Michael Chavis…very young but a chance to be very good. He can really hit and will have power. He will not have a ton of speed but could be the long-term answer after Panda is done at 3B; the Red Sox don’t trade Chavis.
Finally, Margot…one of my favorite prospects in the game and why I ranked him as crazy high as I did – probably insanely so. However, he’s a Mookie Betts starter kit with a really nice hit tool. Big fan. However, he’s the guy that gets moved in my opinion for pitching. It’ll take a half a season to build his resume up and prove the rest of the baseball world that he could be special, but I’m a big believer.
My Favorites in this batch for fantasy so far is…
Meyer, Jackson, Anderson, Franco, Pompey, Souza, Stephenson, Anderson, Gordon, Judge, Winker and Schwarber.
I’m just taking a stab but I’m putting $ down on Mazara taking a huge leap into top 10 mid-season!!! Love that kid!

No Nick Williams, Rich?

Inside the Top 15…could be the Top 10. I’ve spoken to people who have seen him and they are quite impressed.
Just wondering, are your prospect rankings based on Future MLB Value or are they based on fantasy value?
Thanks!
They are fantasy driven.
