Week 5

Harrison Bader, OF, St. Louis Cardinals (CBS: 1 per cent owned, ESPN: n/a): Worth a look in dynasty Leagues as he’s mashing the ball.  Long-term, he’s likely a fourth outfielder but has always been able to hit.

Tucker Barnhart, C, Cincinnati Reds (CBS: 2 per cent owned, ESPN: 1 per cent): Meso isn’t playing and with shoulder surgery being mentioned, Barnhart could get a nice run.

Zack Cozart, SS, Cincinnati Reds (CBS: 40 per cent owned, ESPN: 33 per cent): Check the injury status before tossing down your FAAB bids. He might have hurt his knee on Sunday.

Brandon Drury, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks (CBS: 19 per cent owned, ESPN: 5 per cent): Drury hit another home run today and is up to five. Pretty soon, you might be saying Lamb who…

Coco Crisp, OF, Oakland Athletics (CBS: 6 per cent owned, ESPN: 3 per cent):  He’s old and always hurt, but when he plays, it’s usually good.

Michael Fulmer, SP, Detroit Tigers (CBS: 31 per cent owned, ESPN: 12 per cent):  One of our big sleepers of the year.  He looked good in his first start…enjoy the bidding process.

Jesse Hahn, SP, Oakland Athletics (CBS: 15 per cent owned, ESPN: 8 per cent).  He’s back and Oakland is in need of pitching.

Brad Brach, RP, Baltimore Orioles (CBS: 10 per cent owned, ESPN: 7 per cent): Just a hunch but if Britton misses a lot of time the Orioles might just leave Darren O’Day in the eighth and give Brach a chance.

James McCann, C, Detroit Tigers (CBS: 15 per cent owned, ESPN: 4 per cent):  McCann should be ready to roll by Tuesday and back active in the Tigers lineup. 15% seems incredibly low for a full-time catcher with a pulse.

David Phelps, SP/RP, Miami Marlins (CBS: 8 per cent owned, ESPN: 4 per cent): Carter Capps was supposed to battle A.J. Ramos for the closer gig this spring but his elbow didn’t quite hang in there. Phelps is getting it done.

A.J. Reed, 1B, Houston Astros (CBS: 47 per cent owned, ESPN: 7 per cent):  The Astros are reeling and they need help.  While Reed will be an upgrade from Tyler White, what the Astros really need is pitching.  Remember, Reed was also a pitcher in college – he can’t be much worse than what they are currently throwing out there.

Joe Smith, RP, Los Angeles Angels (CBS: 36 per cent owned, ESPN: 23 per cent): With Huston Street on the shelf, Joe Smith should get the save chances.

Chase Utley, 2B, Los Angeles Dodgers (CBS: 19 per cent owned, ESPN: 17 per cent):  In the category of desperate times call for desperate measures, Utley could be an option.   His OBP is .375.

Steven Wright, SP, Boston Red Sox (CBS: 49 per cent owned, ESPN: 22 per cent): Why do I always think of comedy when I see Steven Wright pitch.  He’s a knuckleballer, but when he’s on, he can be effective.
