Dominic Leone, RP, STL (CBS: 35% owned): Luke Gregerson is poised to start the 2018 season on the DL with a hamstring injury, and any semblance of a good start by Leone, and he could very easily take the job and run away with it. Leone on me, could be a very popular tune in St. Louis this season.
Jose Pirela, OF, SD (CBS: 13% owned): A little pop, dash of speed, and the ability to play all over the place, bolds well for the under-valued Pirela.
C.J. Cron, 1B, TAM (CBS: 10% owned): Not only does Cron have a job, it’s in the middle-of-the-order. The string of three consecutive 16 homer campaigns will end in 2018.
Steve Cishek, RP, CHC (CBS: 3% owned): I know Brandon Morrow has the closer gig, but if one looks close, his 43 2/3 innings in 2017 were his highest since 2013, when as a starter he managed to get in 54 1/3. Can he stay healthy two-years-in-a-row? I’m betting that at some point Cishek finds his way into some saves in the Windy City, and I’ll buy in early to beat the eventual FAAB rush.
Chris Stratton, SP, SF (CBS: 16% owned): Injuries, to both Madison Bumgarner and Jeff Samardzija, have guaranteed Stratton a job in the Giants rotation. I’ll toss down a couple of bucks in the hope that we see a repeat of the solid 2017 debut.
Matt Kemp, OF, LAD (CBS: 51% owned): Kemp actually came into camp in possibly the best shape of his life and has enjoyed a solid spring. He’s only one-year removed from a 35 homer, 108 RBI season.
Hector Velazquez, SP, BOS (CBS: 1% owned): Who is Brian Johnson? The guy that was thought to be the front-runner to break camp in the role of the fifth starter. Who is Hector Velazquez? The pitcher, who will be breaking camp in Boston. I’ll toss down a buck and find a home on my bench for the former Mexican League star.
Logan Forsythe, 2B/3B, LAD (13% owned): Heading into the 2017 campaign, the optimism was sky-high for the Dodgers new acquisition. Come September, he was Waiver Wire fodder in all but the deepest of Leagues. A strong 2017 Playoff run, followed up by a good spring, and he should be back on the horizon.
