Hector Neris (PHI, RHP, 41% owned)
The fantasy market has predicted since January that Hector Neris would be the closer in Philadelphia. It’s finally starting to happen. Time to jump on board now before it’s too late.
Trevor Rosenthal (STL, RP, 14% owned) Oh, Oh. “The Stone Buddah” is showing some cracks. Rosenthal picked up a save this week and was hitting triple-digits on the gun.
Shawn Kelley (WAS, RP, 38% owned) Is Kelley the new Hero in Washington? I think he gets first shot, but Koda Glover is lurking and also in the mix. He’s owned at 34%.
Ariel Miranda (SEA, SP, 21% owned) Three decent starts so far. Everyone needs fifth starters, right?
Trey Mancini (BAL, UT, 34% owned) Batted leadoff. Off to a great start. Will he be exposed with a regular diet of right-handed pitching?
Adam Frazier (PIT, OF, 11 % owned) Someone will garner the bulk of the at-bats with Starling Marte out for the next 80 games. I’m betting on Frazier. Meadows isn’t getting them, that’s a guarantee. But then again, Frazier isn’t that good, so temper your expectations.
Jett Bandy (MIL, C, 9% owned) He has below average power, so I’m not sure where the three home runs have come from, but he can hit. Expect 8 to 10 home runs and .270 batting average. Not too bad…
Josh Reddick (HOU, OF, 29% owned) Hitting in the two-hole in a pretty good offense.
Darwin Barney (TOR, 2B/3B/SS, 1% owned) No power, but RBI opps should be there as he’s one of the few Jays actually hitting right now. Will get the bulk of the at-bats at 3B until Josh Donaldson returns, which could be up to a month. But temper your expectations, he’s still “Darwin Barney”.
Jacob Barnes (MIL, RP, 4% owned) Feliz has been shaky and Barnes lights out. He’s the obvious second-in-line currently. 10 1/3 IP, 3 hits, 4 walks, no runs, and 12 strikeouts. 4 holds, and earned his first save Thursday against the Cardinals.
Enrique Hernandez (LAD, OF, 1% owned) Logan Forsythe is lost for at least a couple of weeks with a broken toe. Hernandez could work his way into at-bats at 2B. Chase Utley is off to a 1-for-20 start.
Dan Vogelbach (SEA, 1B, 11% owned)
Danny Vogelbach graduates from our “Farm” section as he gets the call to the majors. He’ll start out on the good side of the platoon at first base, but given his ability to control the strike zone, he could get full-time at-bats as the season wears on. There’s 15 to 20 home run pop as well.
Six on the Farm to consider
Cody Bellinger (LAD, 1B/OF, 33% owned)
A few too many strikeouts in the early going but Cody Bellinger is just about ready. I can’t believe the Dodgers will play the Super-2 game, so 150 ABs feels about right in Triple-A before Bellinger makes his way to Los Angeles.
Erick Fedde (WAS, RHP, 6% owned)
Erick Fedde has gotten off to a strong start in Triple-A and looks just about ready. Who’s the fifth starter in Washington again? Yeah, time to go pick this dude up.
Tyler Beede (SF, RHP, 11% owned)
Did Madison Bumgarner really hurt his shoulder in a dirt bike accident? Perhaps the Giants should re-do his contract and give him more money and disallow this activity and other similar ones. While Tyler Beede will not be the first one to be called on, he’s probably the best option. Jump on him now while he’s cheap.
Amed Rosario (NYM, SS/3B, 25% owned)
Jose Reyes looks done and Amed Rosario, the Mets top prospect and one of the best prospects in baseball played third on Friday night. He will not be challenged in Las Vegas, a true hitters paradise, so a promotion to New York seems to be in the cards. Despite the Terry Collins factor, I would be throwing down a buck this weekend to get him on my team.
Lewis Brinson (MIL, OF, 24% owned)
Eventually Eric Thames will stop putting up video game numbers and it could highlight that Keon Broxton has overmatched, striking out an astounding 46% of the time. Meanwhile, uber-prospect, Lewis Brinson has been on fire. He’ll strike out too much as well but something tells me less than KB.
Roman Quinn (PHI, OF, 5% owned)
I saw Roman Quinn this week and was reminded of his 80-grade speed and elite defense. I can’t help but think he sees the majors sometime in May or early June which will send Odubel Herrera to left and free up center field for Quinn.
