Brandon Finnegan (CIN, LHP, 72%)

Yeah I know, I see it too.  Brandon Finnegan is rank as the number one overall pitcher in CBS Fantasy ahead of…gulp…Clayton Kershaw, who was unhittable in the season opener.  I also know his ownership has jumped by 50% from the first to second week of the season.  But, at 5-foot-11 and average stuff, I’m just not buying it.  I think he’s a number four pitcher and not a top-of-the-rotation arm.

Amir Garrett (CIN, LHP, 19%)

Not to be out done by his teammate, Amir Garrett pitched equally as well against the Cardinals, giving up two hits and no runs in six innings.  As opposed to Finnegan, the upside is much higher.  The stuff is a grade better and at 6-foot-5, he has the size and the extreme athleticism (he was a D1 college basketball player) to be an impact pitcher in the big leagues.

Clayton Richard (SD, RHP, 29%)

While I will admit that Clayton Richard did look good in his first outing, the stuff looks identical to what it did prior to that start.  Buyer beware but I’ve included him because many of you have asked.

Andrew Triggs (OAK, RHP, 23%)

This one might be more real than I original thought.  First, Andrew Triggs has average stuff but he keeps the ball down, gets a ton of ground balls and throws strikes (despite walking three in his debut).  If I’m dipping a toe in on Joe Musgrove, I should on Triggs.

Greg Holland (COL, RHP, 71%)

While he’s not back to his pre-surgery dominance, Greg Holland looks solid and should be owned in all leagues.  If you want to speculate and Adam Ottavino is taken, Mike Dunn is not a bad choice.

Bartolo Colon (ATL, RHP, 34%)

Bartolo Colon is the most unsexy player you’ll ever see on this list, but he finds a way.  If you’re besieged by injuries, I would take a flyer.

Archie Bradley (ARI, RHP, 11%)

Archie Bradley is my sleeper for saves in Arizona.  The stuff, as suggested last week, has indeed taken a step-up with his move to the bullpen and with Fernando Rodney as the incumbent, well…you can figure the rest of it out.

Hector Neris (PHI, RHP, 36%)

Jenmar Gomez will not last as the closer in Philadelphia and while some might suggest Joaquin Benoit is the next-in-line, I’m going with Hector Neris.  The stuff is electric and he’s learning how to pitch.  Everything points to a future lock-down closer.

Matt Bush (TEX, RHP, 31%)

No closer blew up more spectacularly during opening week than Sam Dyson.  The only good news for me, is I’m not an owner.  I’m guessing some of you are…sorry…  Who I would be an owner of is Matt Bush.  If he’s taken, look at Jeremy Jeffress.  He did a fine job last year in Milwaukee as the closer before being moved at the deadline to Texas.

Santiago Casilla (OAK, RHP, 26%)

It’s coming down to Ryan Madson or Santiago Casilla for saves in Oakland.  Casilla has one and Madson has none.  Yes, a small sample size, but Casilla looks to be the chosen one.

Jesus Aguilar (MIL, 1B, 6%)

The Brewers like Jesus Aguilar and so far, he’s getting it done.  At first I thought Eric Thames would lose some playing time and he still might, but it’s more likely that Thames moves to the outfield on those days that the Brewers want to get Aguilar into the lineup.  He’s still on the wrong side of the platoon, but if he plays, he’ll get hit a few out along the way.

Raul Mondesi (KC, 2B, 33%)

Raul Mondesi has always been very young for each league in which he has played and has never put it all together.  The double-plus is already showing in Kansas City and at some point, he will hit.  It could be soon.  Jump on board.

Jurickson Profar (TEX, 2B/OF/1B, 32%)

Left Field has not yet been decided in Texas and while I love the fantasy upside of Delino DeShields, Jurickson Profar has the best overall skill-set and I think he eventually wins the job.  Maybe the industry missed when we thought he would become a superstar, I still think the upside as a major league regular; which is more than DeShields and Ryan Rua.

Cody Bellinger (LAD, 1B/OF, 33%)

In Los Angeles, Yasiel Puig has gotten off to a hot start; granted against the lowly Padres and Joc Pederson looks locked in at center field.  However, left field looks like a challenge for the Dodgers and Cody Bellinger will likely get the call.  When will that be?  Nobody knows, but something tells me it will be in May.  Make sure he’s on your team.
