AL Only, Standard 5×5, 15 Keeper League. Decimated by injuries this year I decided to shed some salary for next year as I am in last place. $26 Salary Cap
Trade: Chris Sale ($3), Micah Johnson ($.50)
Receive: Rick Porcello ($.60), Byron Buxton ($.50)
After the trade I currently have A.Russell, J.Gallo, B.Buxton, B.Burns, A.Meyer in my minors.
Thoughts? As always, thoroughly love the Podcast with Tim and you! Great advice from true professionals!
An enthusiastic thumbs up. Still worry about Sale, although, as the guy voted most likely to get hurt when he was drafted, he’s the one who’s stayed healthy. Porcello has really played better this year and supported by scouting reports and stats. Buxton…well, he’s going to be a stud.
Good day sir…with butlers poor first outing and now his trip to the DL would u drop him for someone like Henry Owens? If both players are healthy who do you like more this year and beyond? Thnx!!!
Tough call. Since not convinced we see Owens this year and depending on Butler’s injury, he could still see Colorado later this year. It’s honestly a toss up. I’ll rank them within 5 of each other in my upcoming Top 50. I guess it’s still Butler by a hair unless we find out his shoulder is a BIG problem.
In my 12 team dynasty league we get a 5 man minor league system. I currently have Mookie Betts, Clint Frazier, Albert Almora, Jon Gray, and Lucas Giolito.
Are there any prospects that come to mind quickly that may have been off the radar before the season that you would now value ahead of any of these guys, particularly Almora? (I feel like he’s my weakest.)
Most of the “firmly on the radar” guys in your May pop up column are available. Are any of those guys worth adding in this shallow of a dynasty league?
In your opinion, who’s the next can’t miss top three power outfielders class a and below? Vacant farm system since I dealt a lot of key guys for this yr stretch run. Thanks!!!
I can’t help you with the can’t miss part; but here’s some guys to watch in Low-A.
Franmill Reyes – Padres
Austin Wilson – Mariners
Aaron Judge – Yankees (might be gone as he’s well known)
Manny Margot – Red Sox – big fan
Preston Tucker – Astros – Double A guy but nobody has heard of him. Tons of power.
Thanks for that excellent info! What two-three guys in your opinion are the ones you would run out and acquire that are probably a year away from the top 100 list
In my league, we have an NA spot to stash a minor leaguer. Mine will be free once Polanco comes up. 7×7 obp slg yahoo roster (1 C, no CI/MI, 3 OF, 2 UT). 11 teams with five keepers, mine are cano, freeman, fernandez/ortiz, bautista, j upton. Who would you stash knowing you could possibly keep them as the fifth keeper or to produce this year. Joc or Kris Bryant? Thanks Rich
This year? WOW…good question. I like them both, but it’s a tough prediction as one is blocked by 100M of salary and the other is playing great but with no reason to be promoted.
I’m going to go with Joc for this year. The Dodgers need a CF and Pederson might be there only choice. That’s my logic. I’m not confident by any stretch, but that’s what I’ve got.
Always appreciate the advice Rich – got a doozy for you…
15 keeper league w/ salary caps, minors etc…w/o the details I know it’s tough.
Who wins this trade over next 2 years?
(an injured) CarGo + Bryant vs. Alex Rios, Wacha & Hosmer.
Cargo and Bryant. It’s the risky side but the one with the most upside. Rios and Wacha are pretty safe at this juncture and while there is still upside with Hosmer, I think he’s going to have to move out of KC to have a chance to turn into even an average power bat.
Thanks man!!! One follow up question….what letter grade would you give that group of prospects as a whole? I felt pretty happy getting all those names, my feeling was B to B+ curious your impression (on a side note I love Mookie being another Matt Carpenter type tons of hits, runs, OBP)
I don’t really do grades but Springer, Gray, Mookie…those are all first division starters and potentially fantasy monsters. I don’t see the Mookie vs. Carpenter. Both can hit make contact but Mookie is an even better hitter with better NOW plate discipline, significantly more athletic, and similar over the fence power. Mookie could be a monster fantasy player as he’ll bat leadoff or #2. A 10/30/300 with 100+ runs is not a crazy ceiling. The guy can really play.
im currently 5th out of 10 in my 6X6 H2H dynasty league … Thanks for your awesome site, I was able to snag, Springer, Singleton, Gray, Butler, Joc Pederson, Mookie Betts, & Javier Baez…How do you rank them for this year(2014) & next year(2015)
2014 – Spring, Singleton, Gray, Butler, Mookie, Joc, Baez. Mookie is the wildcard and if he gets promoted around all-star break, which is looking more realistic everybody, he goes after Springer.
Greetings Rich, this dude offered me hunter harvey for tapia and m almonte. My first reaction was to tell him to hit the road but heard you gushing about him, so wanted your thoughts. Thank you
Tapia and Almonte are both talents and it’s a reasonable trade and you should consider. For me though, I think Harvey is special and is a top 25 prospect for me and could be one of the top pitchers in the minors by the end of the year. He’ll move fast.
I don’t do it but if you asked others, they would tell you to do it. It’s fair but I’m all in on Harvey.
Just traded Braun, Taijuan Walker, and Chris Owings for Ian Desmond, Homer Bailey, and Brandon McCarthy in a 12-team weekly points dynasty league. I’m currently in 5th looking to make a push. My roster includes: Posey, LaRoche, Pedroia, Wright, Trout, Bautista, Taveras, Polanco (plus desmond) my pitching is: Stras, Waino, Price, Zimmermann, Jansen, Kimbrel, Leake, (plus Bailey and McCarthy). Have Baez and Rodon on my farm club and Matt Harvey on injured reserve. Did I win, or totally botch my chances of making a push? Thanks for the info and great podcast.
It’s hard to get by the name Braun. But it’s a points leagues and they usually favor pitchers. Love Baily and his chances for wins. Walker in a DL league though, YIKES, that could come back to haunt you. McCarthy has been ok. It’s close but and talent for talent, you don’t win, but in Points league because of the pitchers you are getting, in might work out ok. Again, assuming wins are valuable and you get points for IP, K’s, etc…
I don’t know about him either. 5 HR and 5 SB but he’s still not physically right. Can’t be…how can you drop off a cliff like that.
That said and I could be wrong but I still like him more than Singleton. Singleton has power but will likely struggle for the first few weeks before hitting his stride. I’m hoping over time that Kemp returns to 80% of form. Am I confident, NO!!! Am I potential wrong, YES. Sorry to be so wishy-washy but it’s a hard call.
I saw GP when scouting Hanson in WV in 2012. Didn’t know who he was when I got there…heard the name and knew the story, but nothing else. I saw this gangly kid who could get to 1B in 10 steps and was intrigued. BP was pretty impressive. It was raw talent and I was intrigued. Wrote about him and by the end of the season, he was popping up everywhere. I saw him numerous times last year and the progress was indeed impressive.
He’s still not a finished product but he has star upside…top 5 player potential.
Hi Rich, you and Tim really helped this fantasy player in his first year taking over a really bad team in a 20 team keeper league where we keep 25 of 29 players. Any thoughts on Gyorko? I am considering trading him, because I was lucky and got Odor as back up and now he is my starter. My head tells me to wait it out since the team I took over was in really bad shape. Thanks for your time.
I was never a big fan of Gyorko. Tim is much more bullish. Just don’t like the lack of athleticism and his poor approach at the plate. There’s 15-20 consistent home run power but with a .240-.250 BA and little stolen bases. Much more fantasy upside in Odor in my opinion.
Salazar clearly has more upside but he’s pitching poorly in Triple-A since his demotion. I would hope he turns it around but it could well into the summer. Just not the risk for that type of price, assuming it’s at least 5% of your budget.
Got a chance to trade for one of the following in a dynasty league: Kyle Zimmer, Marcus Stroman or Tyler Glasnow…. Thoughts? FWIW K/BB is a stat we use in addition to W/K/ERA/WHIP
Hi there! Would you plz give me some thoughts on Michael Taylor (WAS), Christian Walker and Domingo Santana, and tell me if you feel they should be scooped up in place of any of the following (all of whom I currently own), regardless of position?
Taylor has great tools (power/speed and is a plus defender) but strikeouts a ton. Domingo santana has plus power, but strikeouts a ton. I saw Christin Walker two weeks ago and has leverage in his swing and has hit 14 HR’s I believe. He can also really hit. He didn’t look very athletic to me and didn’t have a great body but he can hit and I could see him as a major leaguer.
I’m not a fan of Lively but he could fetch something in a trade…same with Tommy La Stella…nice hit tool, but not a great fantasy player.
Hey Rich,
Due to a rash of injuries on my team, (Fielder, Wieters…) I have some roster room to pick up 2 or 3 of these guys and see what happens. Could you please rank them and maybe give a little 5 word blurb on their potential it would help me a bunch?
Teoscar Hernandez OF HOU
Christian Binford SP KC
Chris Taylor SS SEA
Jake Thompson SP DET
Willy Adames SS DET
Matt Olson 1B OAK
Dylan Covey SP OAK
Kyle McGowin SP LAA
Thanks RIch,
Frank
PS I just talked my wife into letting me borrow her IPad for 2 hours every Sunday!
Teoscar would be my pick. I’ve written about him on my side.
Binford is ok…back of the rotation guy.
Taylor – The Mariner like him; can hit, not sure if where he plays and if the secondary skills make it.
Jake Thomphson – Just wrote about him.
Willy Adames – I’ve never seen him
Olson – Not sold on the power
Covey – Pretty good arm; ground ball machine; but secondary pitches are lacking and therefore, he’s not striking out anyone. Someone to monitor because of the downward plane and GB rate
McGowin – Back of the rotation ceiling
15 Keeper league. Have an owner inquiring about my Sale or Wacha & Pujols. Thought I could contend this year but my sp decimated by injury: Sale, Cobb, Latos, Sabathia, Pineda.
He has Bryant in minors. What’s a fair give for the upside of Bryant in 2015, 16 & beyond?
Hey Rich. 16 team dynasty, 40 man rosters w/ minors. I currently own Miguel Almonte, Chi Chi Gonzalez and Sean Manaea, among other SP prospects. Are these 3 good “owns”? I’m liking what I see from Daniel Norris. Is he for real? Would you drop one of these for him? thanks!
Oh, and for what its worth, I sent a previous question about obtaining SP prospects for Bryant…not sure if you recall? But anyway, you replied by saying it would depend on my current SP prospects. Well, here they are, in all their glory!
Would you change your mind, or do I have enough? ty!
Gausman, Stephenson, and Gray are all available in a keeper/dynasty league ($4 inflation yearly, so some prospects remain available a bit longer). I just traded Archie, so I am looking to replace him. I like Stephenson a lot, but I don’t think he sniffs the majors this year. I’m not in love with Gausman, although I like his stuff but hate the fact that he is in the AL east/Camden Yards, and he is certainly close to the majors. I like Gray a good amount, but worry about Coors although I think his stuff will play there…plus being in the NL always helps a bit.
Do you view Gray as a guy who can reach the majors this year? He should be bumped to AAA in the very near future, at the very least. Who would be the best bet to throw a buck on in your opinion?
Bundy – risk for TJ recovery
Alex Meyer – Really looking good
Syndergaard – currently on the shelf with an elbow issue
Giolito – furthest away but TJ already done
Owens – Up and down season.
I would consider the trade if I felt like I needed pitching depth as was set at 3B or OF. I do think Bryant is a 30 HR guy with a .260 average. That will play very well.
Man, you really want to give up Tanaka. The guys you getting are all ok…but there is not one sure fire top guy there. Your giving up a stud for 5 maybe’s. If it were me, I would want one big time prospect…Bryant, Correa, Taveras, one very good pitching prospect, and a lesser major leaguer. Tanaka has been arguably the best pitcher in baseball. He’s young and I’m sure he’ll have TJ, like everyone does, but for now…he’s a stud.
Hi. I’m in a 16 team dynasty w/ 40 man rosters including minors. I’m in need of a 1B (I have Dunn and Cron) and SPs. A GM sent me an offer of E5 and one of Teheran, Henry Owens, Syndergaard, Bundy, Alex Meyer or Giolito for Carlos Correa and Kris Bryant. My SS’s are Peralta, Baez and Correa and my 3Bs are Donaldson, Bryant and McMahon. Any thoughts on what I should do here? Am I giving up too much in Bryant and Correa? Should I jump all over this? If so, which of the SPs listed do you like most? Should I target more than one of his SPs?
ANY input on this is more than appreciated! Thanks a lot, in advance! Cheers
E5 is a monster and while you’re giving up two potential studs, I really like the deal. I would do Teheran but see if he’ll throw in another pitcher…go Meyer or a lesser player.
Yes and I would go big. I don’t know your rules but Profar is a premium player and MUST be owned. How much, hard to say…but if you can keep most of your players, I would go pretty all-in if I could.
Great show last night and thanks for answering my Buxton question. Follow up question. I play in a weekly H2H category league with 5 keepers. I drafted Buxton in round 19 thinking I would keep him (19th round for life) but now with him most likely not playing in the majors until mid year next season I am not sure. What would you do with him
1. Trade him
2. Drop him for Addison Russell
3. Stay put and see how the year plays out
Thanks for the input, love the show listen every Monday morning all the way in Vietnam.
Take care Rich
PS I posted something similar earlier but internet was going haywire, sorry if it double posts
Thanks Jon. I won’t talk for a week after last night’s marathon. I would hold tight with Buxton; you never know what will happen in the second half, but it’s likely he’ll come up in 2015.
Great show tonight and thanks for addressing my Buxton and Sano question. Now for the follow up. I have Buxton as a 19th round draft pick where we can keep only 5 players. I have him stashed as a possible keeper since he was most likely to start next year in the majors. Since this is no longer the case should I drop Buxton for Addison Russell who is the only major prospect available who is keeper worthy for next year or should I just hold onto Buxton and see what happens and try to draft him next year.
New to the keeper leagues so I don’t have experience to help me gauge the consequences of these decisions.
I totally get your concern with Fielder…can’t blame you…but he has more power than everyone else on this list. Risk…sure. I’m not qualified to discuss what the affect his surgery might have on his ability to swing a bat…no idea; but a risk. BUT, if he comes back healthy, he’s the best power of these.
Of the players listed, you have to worry about health for at least Hamilton. I would do Votto/Longoria.
I have been offered Kenley Jansen for Y. Ventura. I’m currently in the hunt in a 12 team keeper league with 35 man rosters. We start 10 p’s regardless of position.
My pitchers now:
Stras
Waino
Price
Zimmermann
Kimbrel
Leake
Odorizzi, Storen, R. Montero rotate on a weekly basis. I have harvey on the DL. I know I’m weak in closer, but am wondering if I should pull the trigger or not.
Jansen’s a lock down closer. If you need one, you’ve got to pay the price sometimes. I like Ventura a lot, but long term, he’s probably a reliever. Just my take there.
I am in dead last in my dynasty league — obviously rebuilding. Last season, my pitching did me in, and this season it’s my (lack of) offense. I felt lucky enough to snag Kluber a few weeks ago, but now I am been offered Desmond Jennings and Kole Calhoun for him and J. Soria. I’m feeling a lot of love for Kluber these days, and while closers come and go (I’m not overly attached to Soria) are Jennings and Calhoun decent return for a guy like Kluber? Can’t say I’ve ever been huge on Jennings, but he seems a better alternative than others on my roster. Calhoun is all the rage this season; what’s your take on him?
Thanks once again for your site. Your analysis is always interesting.
It’s a fair trade. Jennings is a 10 HR, 30 SB with a .260-.270 BA and that should continue for the next 2-3 years before he starts to tail off. Calhoun can hit and has some pop. Could be .280 guy with 18-20 HR’s. I like Kluber and of course Soria is very good but if you need offense, it’s fair.
so im thinking of unloading darvish….i can afford to get rid of him cause im stacked with a great set of guys but lack in the power department
what kind of bat can i get for him???
tell me what you think of the offer i just got
darvish and fielder for votto and schezer? this guy has a great ballclub i could really use the power, do you think i would be able to get tulo puig longoria or braun?
Fielder is likely lost for the season, so if this is a redraft league, yes, for sure. Is Votto the big popper…probably not.
Darvish is a top 3 fantasy pitcher and should fetch you Braun, Longo +, in a Dynasty League. Puig…probably not but you could throw something back and make it work.
What about Encarncion? The owner might jump at that thinking he gets the better deal but EE is really undervalued and you might be able to get another piece.
Bottom line…Darvish and Kershaw have very similar values and given what has happen to owners pitchers, you should be able to get one of the top overall offensive players.
Jones could be a center piece but he is very aggressive and will could fall off earlier than you think as his average and OBP are propped up by a high BABIP.
I Found your podcast this offseason and love your insight. It is nice to have fantasy experts offering such in depth analysis on prospects for us dynasty guys.
I am in a first year dynasty league. 12 teams head to head standard categories. Our keepers are designated by their auction value + their preseason $ value (ESPN custom $ value generator) / how many years they have been kept. I have Bogaerts for $7 and Syndergaard for $4 and I have been offered Taveras($7) or Polanco($7) and Bailey($19).
I think Bogaerts is a fine player, but I am concerned about his fantasy value because he doesn’t seem to excel in either power or speed, but I also feel like as a 21 year old with his approach he has a ton of room to grow. Syndergaard has been struggling with his control in AAA, but I have read that he has the stuff to be the ace on that already young and talented staff. If I accept the trade it will be very difficult for me to find a place for Taveras/Polanco unless they are immediate studs. We can only start 3 OFs and I have CarGo, A Jones, Rios, Heyward, and Pence. I also have Andrus and Zimmerman at SS and 3B to replace Bogaerts.
Also, I am not big on Bailey. I don’t know if I will choose to keep him at that price.
Would you accept this trade and if so, which players would you lean towards?
Even if you can’t get to this question, thanks so much for all your research and advice!
If you can only start 3 OF, I can’t believe GP and Taveras will be replacing Cargo, A Jones, and Rios/Heyward/Pence. Throw in your not high on Bailey and it seems like a bad fit for your team.
Net…net I would rather have Oscar or GP over Bogs and Syndergaard at $4.
Hi. Thanks for your reply! One last question…do you see any of these players as “must haves”? Maybe rank the top 3, regardless of position. You can leave out Bedrosian and Giles…I’ve already added them. Thanks a lot!
No MUST adds but I’ve added Guerrero and Pompey in all dynasty leagues and would support an add of these depending on who you would have to drop. Both are somewhat lottery picks but have pretty big upsides. We should know a lot more by the end of the season on both.
I am in first place in my 15 team roto Dynasty League and have been offered Ellsbury and I would give Sano and Joc Pederson. I am in 6th place in steals(3 steals out of 3rd place in steals) and 2nd in runs. What do you think? Seems like to give up in the future but… Thank you.
It’s a judgement call here. It’s a lot to give up for Ellsbury, but I have a chance to win in a 15-roto league and I’m cashing in on my prospects that I’ve held for 2-4 years and going for it. The other thing is that Ellsbury is really good. Could be good for 2-3 more years as well.
I try to avoid giving direct “take it” or “don’t” kind of advise, but if you can increase your chances of winning, do it. One caution, by giving up both, you’ll like have less flexiblity if you find you need to acquire an arm later on; unless you’re also sitting on some other stud prospects.
What are your thoughts on Adam Ottavino for the rest of the year? Also, thoughts on David Webb from White Sox? I have Kimbrel, but Nate Jones is hurt and Chapman is back so Broxton is useless now. Looking for some potential saves later this year.
Ottavino is an interesting name. He’s been unhittable this year but is also a bit of fly ball pitcher. Hasn’t hurt him this year but with the trouble Hawkins has been having, he could be an interesting name after Brothers. After is the key word there, but there is a chance
Webb is a nice pitcher and could see save opportunities, unless you believe Lindstrom makes it all year; which I think is unlikely. Nate Jones is probably the logical guy after Lindstrom but is still hurt. Not a bad handcuff for Lindstrom.
Hey. I’m in a 12 Team Roto Dynasty. I got offered my Buxton for Heaney, Gray and Stephenson. I need pitching because after Scherezer/Cole/Stras, pitching aint good and nothing on waivers. My OF still would have Harper, Stanton and Taveras. I also got offered d’Arnaud, Myers, Walker, and A. Bradley for my Buxton, Profar, Archer and Appel. What do you think? Or I could do Profar for Stephenson. What do you think? Thanks, Max.
14 team dynasty league, get to keep 5 guys each year. Already have Kershaw, Wacha, Profar, Cobb, Buxton, Hosmer, Dee Gordon and several others I could look at keeping. Also have Archie Bradley. Worth keeping around? What impact, if any, do you think he’ll have this year?
Dave Duncan was pretty negative on Bradley in a Sirius interview on Sunday. He’s hurt and there is still a lot of work to do. I doubt he will be up this year given the leadership change and injury and comments that Duncan made.
Hi. I’m in a 16 team dynasty points league which I have no chance of winning this season (I’m an expansion team). I feel I have a pretty solid minors system, but always looking to add to it. I’m kicking the tires on a couple prospects and wondering what your thoughts are on them. Any must grabs here?? thanks!
Ryan Rua
Franklin Barreto
Chris Taylor
Gabriel Guerrero
Dalton Pompey
Tyrone Taylor
Domingo Santana
Daniel Norris
Roberto Osuna
Cam Bedrosian
Justin Nicolino
Ken Giles
I wouldn’t. Story has done better this year and still has a chance to be very good; although he is still striking out a ton. Gohara has a nice arm but is a long way off and doesn’t have much projection left as he’s a big boy already and only 17-years-old.
Love Gray but he’s a Coors guy – so buyer beware. Franco is ok…25 HR power but could be a BA drain. Also, not sure he stays at 3B. I would keep Wright for sure but would consider for Hanley – but only if you are truly rebuildiing.
There are several good outfield prospects available in my 10-team dynasty league and I’m trying to decide which one (or two) to pick up. Could you provide some insight on these guys?
Rymer Liriano (9 HR; has been heating up this month)
Courtney Hawkins (9 HR; seems to be improving his contact/strikeout rates)
Josh Bell (hitting over .300; making good contact; not showing much power yet)
Nick Williams (striking out A LOT but supposedly has a very good hit tool)
Delino DeShields (I wish he was still playing second base!)
Dariel Alvarez (very impressive numbers but he will turn 26 this year)
Randal Grichuk (great numbers for a 22 year old in AAA)
Which two of these guys would you prefer in a fairly shallow dynasty league? Do any of them have the chance to put up Springer/Pederson power/speed numbers? Thanks!
I’ve written profiles about all of them except for Alvarez. He’s the cuban emigree. Will see him play next week in Bowie. Search on my site and read the profiles.
None of these guys have a chance to put up Springer/Pederson stats. Liranio and Bell are back of the Top 100 list and DeShields is a SB big-time threat but I’ve never liked what I’ve seen.

Would rather have Gabby.

Thanks, Id be getting Harvey and Almonte sucks this year. Appreciate the advice
Sorry, re-read it…well, you know my opinion on Harvey. I’m all in.
Kemp for Singleton
Not a keeper league…but I don’t know about Kemp…he is struggling
I trade Singleton
I don’t know about him either. 5 HR and 5 SB but he’s still not physically right. Can’t be…how can you drop off a cliff like that.
That said and I could be wrong but I still like him more than Singleton. Singleton has power but will likely struggle for the first few weeks before hitting his stride. I’m hoping over time that Kemp returns to 80% of form. Am I confident, NO!!! Am I potential wrong, YES. Sorry to be so wishy-washy but it’s a hard call.
Thanks for the site, you seemed to be on Polanco before everyone else.
Question – 20 team Dynasty league – do I trade a $22 Danny Salazar (contracted the next two years), for a Ian Kennedy that expires after this year?
Salazar clearly has more upside but he’s pitching poorly in Triple-A since his demotion. I would hope he turns it around but it could well into the summer. Just not the risk for that type of price, assuming it’s at least 5% of your budget.
thank you – great site and advice!
Got a chance to trade for one of the following in a dynasty league: Kyle Zimmer, Marcus Stroman or Tyler Glasnow…. Thoughts? FWIW K/BB is a stat we use in addition to W/K/ERA/WHIP
Stroman
Hello, heard you talking about cargo (COL OF). Polanco and Joc enough in return if rebuilding? thanks
I’d take that.
Hi there! Would you plz give me some thoughts on Michael Taylor (WAS), Christian Walker and Domingo Santana, and tell me if you feel they should be scooped up in place of any of the following (all of whom I currently own), regardless of position?
Nick Franklin
Tommy La Stella
Jesse Winker
Dalton Pompey
Raimel Tapia
Ryan McMahon
Miguel Almonte
Ken Giles
Cam Bedrosian
Alex Chi Chi Gonzalez
Sean Manaea
Ben Lively
Taylor has great tools (power/speed and is a plus defender) but strikeouts a ton. Domingo santana has plus power, but strikeouts a ton. I saw Christin Walker two weeks ago and has leverage in his swing and has hit 14 HR’s I believe. He can also really hit. He didn’t look very athletic to me and didn’t have a great body but he can hit and I could see him as a major leaguer.
I’m not a fan of Lively but he could fetch something in a trade…same with Tommy La Stella…nice hit tool, but not a great fantasy player.
Is trading Springer for Jose Fernandez and Gallo taking on too much risk?
In my opinion, yes.
Hey Rich,
Due to a rash of injuries on my team, (Fielder, Wieters…) I have some roster room to pick up 2 or 3 of these guys and see what happens.
Anthony Arnaudo
FOR
Felix Doubront.
I trade Doubront. Full dynasy league,
Ranaudo*
I like Felix side…
Hey Rich. 16 team dynasty, 40 man rosters w/ minors. I currently own Miguel Almonte, Chi Chi Gonzalez and Sean Manaea, among other SP prospects. Are these 3 good “owns”? I’m liking what I see from Daniel Norris. Is he for real? Would you drop one of these for him? thanks!
My other SP prospects are JGray, HHarvey, MStroman, KZimmer, BLively, Bedrosian, KGiles and AJCole
I would drop BLively first and foremost for Norris and the following as well: Bedrosian, Chi Chi, and possibly Manaea and KGiles.
Hi there. Can you please rank the following prospects
Bundy
Syndergaard
Meyer
Giolito
Owens
Would you trade away Kris Bryant for the top two??
Thanks!
Full dynasty league, 28 teams, 240 man minor rosters, 40 man rosters, A25 rosters
Tanaka
FOR
Gausman, Alex Reyes, Tyler Anderson, Dariel Alvarez, Nick Markakis, 1st AMAT pick
He also has
Domonic Smith
Miguel Almonte
Jose Martinez
Victor Arano
Who is the best out of those 4….can you maybe rank them. Should I pull the trigger on the Tanaka trade???
Thanks in advance
I just heard about your page a few weeks back and I use it all the time. You do a AMAZING job.
Profar just dropped in Dynasty H2H league. Would you drop M. Davidson to pick him up? If so, how much would you bid with a $150 yearly FAAB budget?
Yes and I would go big. I don’t know your rules but Profar is a premium player and MUST be owned. How much, hard to say…but if you can keep most of your players, I would go pretty all-in if I could.
Thanks Rich, I say you let Tim do 95 percent of the talking next week!
Sound advice for every week…
Hey Rich,
Great show last night and thanks for answering my Buxton question.
Rich,
Great show tonight and thanks for addressing my Buxton and Sano question.
New to the keeper leagues so I don’t have experience to help me gauge the consequences of these decisions.
what do you think of fielder for the next few years? im gonna get rid of him with darvish
which of these trades would you do if i needed power
votto/ josh hamilton
josh hamilton / longoria
votto / longoria
or 1 of those 3 with schezer
Thanks,
Jansen’s a lock down closer. If you need one, you’ve got to pay the price sometimes. I like Ventura a lot, but long term, he’s probably a reliever. Just my take there.
Hi Rich:
I like Kluber and of course Soria is very good but if you need offense, it’s fair.
so im thinking of unloading darvish….i can afford to get rid of him cause im stacked with a great set of guys but lack in the power department
what kind of bat can i get for him???
tell me what you think of the offer i just got
darvish and fielder for votto and schezer? this guy has a great ballclub i could really use the power, do you think i would be able to get tulo puig longoria or braun?
thanks again
Dump and Darvish clearly don’t go together…LOL.
Bottom line…Darvish and Kershaw have very similar values and given what has happen to owners pitchers, you should be able to get one of the top overall offensive players.
haha bad choice of words eh…lol
its a keeper league, we keep 12…would you still pull the trigger? the owner is not willing to give up any of the guys i mentioned boo 🙁
the encarnacion owner never trades, pretty sure hes done for after this season..
is donaldson worth going after? i like him alot but to give up darvish for him in a trade…yikes lol
donaldson / adam jones / pence / sandoval / greinke / price…any combos you like there?
have a great night
Jones could be a center piece but he is very aggressive and will could fall off earlier than you think as his average and OBP are propped up by a high BABIP.
Hello Rich, thanks in advance
Is M Franco and Baez enough in return for Hanley or Wright?
Thanks
It was at the beginning of the season but with Baez’s season, there is enough concern that you now need more in my opinion.
Hi Rich,
I Found your podcast this offseason and love your insight.
Thanks Ben.
If you can only start 3 OF, I can’t believe GP and Taveras will be replacing Cargo, A Jones, and Rios/Heyward/Pence. Throw in your not high on Bailey and it seems like a bad fit for your team.
Net…net I would rather have Oscar or GP over Bogs and Syndergaard at $4.
hey pal
what are your thoughts on Asher Wojciechowski? is he someone worth monitoring
Hey Justin,
Not for me. Fly ball pitcher that doesn’t have elite stuff. Knows how to pitch though. For me, a league average pitcher at best.
thanks i will not pay to much attention to him then..
how about the injury to cliff lee, if he were to miss alot of time, is there anybody that you would want to grab asap from the minors?
Hey Robert,
It’s a judgement call here.
Good luck!
What are your thoughts on Adam Ottavino for the rest of the year? Also, thoughts on David Webb from White Sox? I have Kimbrel, but Nate Jones is hurt and Chapman is back so Broxton is useless now. Looking for some potential saves later this year.
Thanks for the info and awesome podcast.
Thanks Matt,
Ottavino is an interesting name.
Thanks…
Dave Duncan was pretty negative on Bradley in a Sirius interview on Sunday. He’s hurt and there is still a lot of work to do. I doubt he will be up this year given the leadership change and injury and comments that Duncan made.
Still a potential ace down the road.
Hi. I’m in a 16 team dynasty points league which I have no chance of winning this season (I’m an expansion team). I feel I have a pretty solid minors system, but always looking to add to it. I’m kicking the tires on a couple prospects and wondering what your thoughts are on them. Any must grabs here?? thanks!
Ryan Rua
Franklin Barreto
Chris Taylor
Gabriel Guerrero
Dalton Pompey
Tyrone Taylor
Domingo Santana
Daniel Norris
Roberto Osuna
Cam Bedrosian
Justin Nicolino
Ken Giles
Franklin Barreto was my #100 ranked prospect; my sleeper. Still like him, but he’s not exploded like I thought.
Chris Taylor is a nice player but I doubt he’ll be a great fantasy player.
Guerrero and Pompey I just wrote about today.
Tyrone Taylor is the best prospect in Milwaukee…I wrote him up in their Top 10.
Domingo Santana has big power and could be up this year. He’s also written up.
Daniel Norris is having a breakout this year. Good lefty. It’s starting to come together for him.
Osuna had TJS this winter. I wrote him up.
Ken Giles has closer potential after Paplebon moves on.
Thoughts on lars huijer…what is his ceiling…is he worth the risk (dropping tyler Danish)
Sorry, I don’t have much knowledge except to look at his stat line.
Luis Sardinas and Sam Selman
FOR
Keuchel and Charlie Morton
Full dynasty league…I am rebuilding
Should I trade away Keuchel and Morton for those two????
Also…thoughts on Luiz Gohara and Trevor Story. How good can they get…
I wouldn’t. Story has done better this year and still has a chance to be very good; although he is still striking out a ton. Gohara has a nice arm but is a long way off and doesn’t have much projection left as he’s a big boy already and only 17-years-old.
Hello,
I was offered M Franco and Gray for Wright or Hanley. I am not going to win this year. Should I hold out for more or just take it?
Thank you in advance
Love Gray but he’s a Coors guy – so buyer beware. Franco is ok…25 HR power but could be a BA drain. Also, not sure he stays at 3B. I would keep Wright for sure but would consider for Hanley – but only if you are truly rebuildiing.
Thank you. One month till polanco!
Hey Rich,
There are several good outfield prospects available in my 10-team dynasty league and I’m trying to decide which one (or two) to pick up.
