Ji-Man Choi (NYY, 1B, 2% owned)

The one time Mariner, Oriole, and Angel, and now Yankeee, hit a two-run 457 foot homer in his Yankee debut. He then proceeded to follow it up with another two-run shot in his second game. The injury to Greg Bird has had the Yankees searching for a solution at first since the spring. At least for now, Choi appears to be the answer.

Anibal Sanchez (DET, SP, 13% owned)

In his past four starts he has allowed a total of only eight earned runs, tossing three consecutive quality starts. He’s currently on a roll. Roll with him.

Zach Granite (MIN, OF, 1% owned)

More than likely, he’s simply a temporary fill-in while Joe Mauer tends to his ailing back, but the kid can play. In AL-only formats, those terrific contact skills and speed are worthy of a roster spot.  For Dynasty Leagues, he’s likely a fourth outfielder long-term.

Lonnie Chisenhall (CLE, OF, 30% owned)

It’s once more that time of the year, when Lonnie Chisenhall goes on a tear, and what a tear it is.  Since the calendar rolled into June, he has amassed six homers and 29 RBI, with a plus .300 BA. Ride him until it eventually goes south.

Miguel Montero (TOR, C, 3% owned)

Montero wore out his welcome in Chicago, and the Cubs subsequently moved him to the Jays. The move from the NL to the AL means there’s a new catcher in town in AL-only formats.

Ketel Marte (ARZ, SS, 6% owned)

I know I mentioned Marte last week, but when you hit a 440 foot drive in Chavez Ravine that almost leaves the park, it’s worthy of a second mention.

Brad Boxberger (TB, RP, 5% owned)

In nine appearances in June, Alex Colome allowed earned runs in five of them, four consecutive to wrap up the month. He has righted the ship in July, but with Boxberger returning from lat and forearm issues, the Rays have another solid go-to option in that bullpen. Since his return, Boxberger has allowed one scant walk in three innings pitched with six of those outs being via the strikeout.

Anthony Swarzak (CWS, RP, 5% owned)

Kahnle, Khanle, Kahnle. That’s all we’ve been hearing for the past several months. The heir apparent to closer David Robertson. While we’ve been waiting for the eventual Robertson trade, Kahnle has all of a sudden returned to being a mere mortal. He has now allowed earned runs in four of his past five appearances. Meanwhile, Anthony Swarzak has been very quietly getting the job done, sporting a mid-2 ERA and striking out a batter per inning. Spend a couple of bucks this week, and potentially earn a solid return in the very near future.

Luke Weaver (STL, SP, 18% owned)

Weaver got the call last week and now has two scoreless appearances under his belt. For now the Cards are using him out of the pen, but does that mean his bullpen role is carved in stone? I’m betting the answer to that question is no.

Paul DeJong (STL, 2B/SS/3B, 20% owned)

Aledmys Diaz, who? DeJong has now homered in back-to-back-to-back games giving him nine on the season. The 23-year-old is in no hurry to be giving up his job. The walk rates, or lack thereof are a concern, but the power is legit. Find a home for him in your MI slot and enjoy the ride.

Andrew Chafin (ARZ, RP, 1% owned)

The 27-year-old southpaw is enjoying a great year as the DBacks designated LOOGY. Nine holds and 39 strikeouts in 29 IP with a 1.86 ERA is seriously getting the job done.  Buy him for the great peripherals and maybe, just maybe the odd save might be part of the program.
