Jake Bauers, 1B/OF, MIL (CBS: 1% rostered, ESPN: not rostered)

Between First Base and the Outfield, very quietly Bauers is proving to be a competent addition to the Brewer’s offense. Three homers, four thefts, and 17 RBI as your fifth outfielder will get the job done in larger formats.

Dairon Blanco, OF, KCR (CBS: 3% rostered, ESPN: 1%rostered)

He’s a burner and coming off the bench has amassed 10 thefts in only 34 at-bats. If you have the “need for speed”, he will fill that need.

Taj Bradley, SP, TBR (CBS: 59% rostered, ESPN: 10% rostered)

The pectoral strain suffered this Spring delayed his 2024 season until Friday, when he made his 2024 debut against the mighty Yankee offense. He held them in check over six innings, allowing but a single earned run and chipping in with seven strikeouts.  If Bradley slipped through the cracks, find a home for him right smartly.

Jonny DeLuca, OF, TBR (CBS: 25% rostered, ESPN: 6% rostered)

The hope was that we’d see a Junior Caminero promotion, but Jonny DeLuca could prove to be a solid consolation prize. His Minor League numbers show solid power/speed potential and the ability to get to first via the free pass. With 10 RBI in his first 8 games as a Ray, don’t be sleeping on the upside potential.

Robert Gasser, SP, MIL (CBS: 14% rostered, ESPN: 3% rostered)

It was the Cardinals, but 6 innings of two-hit, no walk shutout ball is still impressive, and based on his Minor League numbers this year, also surprising. Gasser has Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Atlanta next up on the schedule and in the words of the late-great Meatloaf, “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad.”

Zach Neto, SS, LAA (CBS: 24% rostered, ESPN: 5% rostered)

After a slow start, May has been much kinder to the 23-year-old shortstop. Neto has slugged a pair of home runs, swiped a couple of bases and is 10-for-36 at the dish this month. He’s quickly turning into a viable option at middle-infield, in deeper Leagues.

Reese Olson, SP, DET (CBS: 54% rostered, ESPN: 7% rostered)

The fact that Olson is still waiting for his first win of the 2024 campaign shouldn’t be cause for one to shy away from finding a spot for him in your Fantasy team’s rotation. The 2.52 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with a pinch shy of a strikeout-per-inning over his first seven starts speaks volumes as to his capabilities.

Davis Schneider, 2B/OF, TOR (CBS: 14% rostered, ESPN: 3% rostered)

The Jays and that anemic offense (currently tied for second worst in Runs Scored), are looking for any spark that could be cause for improvement. Could Davis Schneider prove to be that spark? When you’re posting an OPS that is +.300 points higher than your principal competition, Cavan Biggio, it has to be cause for an increase in playing time.

Jon Singleton, 1B, HOU (CBS: 13% rostered, ESPN: 2% rostered)

Jose Abreu didn’t get the job done and is working on getting his swing right in the Arizona Complex League. With no timetable for a return, Jon Singleton looks to be the Astros best option at First Base and has backed it up by slugging two homers in his past six games.

James Wood, OF, WAS (CBS: 50% rostered, ESPN: 4% rostered)

When you’ve hit 7 homers, stolen 9 bases and are sporting a 1.047 OPS in 131 Triple-A at-bats, how much more do you have to prove? It’s only a matter of time before James Wood arrives and that time should be drawing near.

The Closer Report

Luis Garcia, RP, LAA (CBS/ESPN: not rostered)

How long do the Angels continue to roll out Carlos Estevez and his 6+ ERA? Luis Garcia is not enjoying a stellar 2024, but it’s better than the current option.

Griffin Jax, RP, MIN (CBS: 28% rostered, ESPN: (9% rostered):

The Twins closer is Jhoan Duran but Rocco Baldelli will not hesitate to use him in high leverage situations, something he has done three times in Duran’s six appearances this year. Expect Griffin Jax to amass more saves than the average 8’th inning reliever.

Jordan Leasure, RP, CWS (CBS: 5% rostered, ESPN: (not rostered)

It’s a true committee on the South Side. Leasure will get saves over the balance of the year. How many is up for debate, but being he currently has the lowest ERA (2.20) of the Kopech/Brebbia/Leasure committee, it could be more than expected.

Trevor Megill, RP, MIL (CBS: 34% rostered, ESPN: 6% rostered)

Uribe didn’t get it done and was dispatched to Triple-A. Joel Payamps is still around but of-late mostly ineffective. That leaves Trevor Megill to hold down the fort in the ninth, and with four saves in his past five appearances and a sub-1 ERA and WHIP it could be a long and successful run.
