Josh Bell, 1B, Pittsburgh Pirates (CBS: 27 per cent owned, ESPN: 5 per cent): He’s back and hopefully the Pirates will give him an opportunity to play this time around. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI today and should own the first base job down the stretch, barring the Pirates once again attempting to convince us that he’s not ready.

Enrique Burgos, RP, Arizona Diamondbacks (CBS: 4 per cent owned, ESPN: 2 per cent): The Jake Barrett at-closer-experiment has ground to a halt, and it appears as if Burgos has moved to the top of the pecking order in Arizona. Is he a good option? Who knows, but he’s the only one left in that bullpen that hasn’t failed. He shut the door on the Padres Saturday night and should be the go-to guy for saves moving forward.

Luis Cessa, SP, New York Yankees (CBS: 3 per cent owned, ESPN: 1 per cent): His first start wearing pinstripes was a success, as he tossed six innings of three-hit shutout ball. The 24-year-old righty enjoyed a very good campaign at Triple-A and with the Yankees moving forward with their youth movement, he should be part and parcel to those plans down the stretch.

Jose De Leon, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers (CBS: 28 per cent owned, ESPN: 3 per cent): De Leon has only tossed 71 2/3 IP at Triple-A this year and is currently sporting a 3.14 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and 88 strikeouts. The Dodgers are struggling to maintain a healthy rotation. Give the kid a shot. Can it be any worse than what we’ve seen from Bud Norris, Brett Anderson, etal?

Alex Gordon, OF, Kansas City Royals (CBS: 46 per cent owned, ESPN: 26 per cent): A horrible year has turned into an opportunity. When was the last time Alex Gordon was owned in less than half the Leagues in play? The Royals are on fire, reeling off eight wins in a row, and Gordon has blasted five homers during that streak. It’s time to take a look to see if he’s a free agent and if so, find him a home.

Chad Green, SP, New York Yankees (CBS: 29 per cent owned, ESPN: 17 per cent): Green was called up again, this time to replace Luis Severino in the rotation, and last Monday against the Jays tossed six innings of two-hit ball with 11 punchouts. He followed that strong performance with six solid innings of one-run ball today against the Angels. In  94 2/3 IP at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he struck out 100 batters. He should be a fixture in the New York rotation down the stretch.

Mitch Haniger, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks (CBS: 7 per cent owned, ESPN: 4 per cent): Haniger is 7-for-20 since getting the call and should see steady at-bats in the injury depleted DBacks outfield. Down on the farm, he hit 24 homers with 86 RBI over two levels, with an outstanding 1.011 OPS. In deeper Leagues, he has to be on your radar.

Jeff Hoffman, SP, Colorado Rockies (CBS: 10 per cent owned, ESPN: 3 per cent): The Rockies promoted one of their top pitching prospectsSaturday, and tossed him into the fire against the best team in baseball, the Cubs. He struggled, allowing six earned runs over four innings. Next up are the Nationals. He’s worthy of a small bid in NL-only Leagues, in the hopes that he settles down after what has been a rough start to his big League career.

Ryan Howard, 1B, Philadelphia Phillies (CBS: 10 per cent owned, ESPN: 4 per cent): He’s a platoon player, but since the calendar flipped to August, he’s been a very valuable platoon player. Five homers, 13 RBI, and a .394 BA is worth a CI spot in deeper Leagues. Is this Howards final hurrah?

Ender Inciarte, OF, Atlanta Braves (CBS: 27 per cent owned, ESPN: 23 per cent): Inciarte is now up to 52 runs scored in 94 games.  In August he’s scored 17 runs in 19 games with a great .386 OBP. A sprinkling of homers, decent stolen base totals, and plenty of runs scored works well as a fifth outfielder.

Francisco Liriano, SP, Toronto Blue Jays (CBS: 29 per cent owned, ESPN: 45 per cent): Aaron Sanchez has been sent down to High-A Dunedin, as part of his rest period to control his innings. Liriano, is now part of that rotation for at least the next two turns. He’s got the Twins and Hector Santiago next on the schedule. It doesn’t get much better than that?

David Phelps, SP, Miami Marlins (CBS: 47 per cent owned, ESPN: 24 per cent): At one point it appeared that David Phelps would have a great future as a relief pitcher. The priorities in Miami have changed and he’s now moved into the rotation but still enjoying the success he enjoyed as a reliever. He’s slowly building up arm strength and is coming off back-to-back starts in which he has gone a total of 11 1/3 IP, allowing six hits, three walks, and striking out 17. Grab him quick while the opportunity is still at-hand.

Reynaldo Lopez, SP, Washington Nationals (CBS: 47 per cent owned, ESPN: 18 per cent):  Lopez is coming off back-to-back wins against the Braves, including an 11 strikeout performance in his last outing. He’s got a bit tougher challenge in a two-start week, going up against the Orioles and Rockies, but worthy of a look if you’re trying to gain ground in the pitching categories, especially strikeouts.

Anibal Sanchez, SP, Detroit Tigers (CBS: 37 per cent owned, ESPN: 20 per cent): Sanchez is heading into a very interesting two-start week. He has the Twins and Kyle Gibson in the first start, with Tyler Skaggs and the dreadful Anaheim offense in the second. Three of his last four starts have been very good, including taking a no-hitter into his last outing against the Royals. You couldn’t want a better streaming option.

Dansby Swanson, SS, Atlanta Braves (CBS: 43 per cent owned, ESPN: 21 per cent): I don’t get it, but the Braves and their fans do and will for the final six weeks of the 2016 campaign.  He’s skipping (at least for now) the Triple-A part of the program and posted nine homers, 55 RBI, and 13 thefts at High-A and Double-A ball. This is a good opportunity for the Braves and their fans to get an early look at the future and for Fantasy owners in deep and NL-only Leagues to secure help at middle-infield.
