Waiver Wire June 29, 2025

Dominic Canzone, OF, SEA (CBS: 3% rostered, ESPN: 1% rostered)

It was a good week for Dominic Canzone as he has hit four home runs in his last seven games. I wouldn’t spend a lot of on him since he’s just a fourth outfielder waiting, but he’s on a hot streak right now and worth considering this week, especially in deeper formats.

Chase DeLauter, OF, CLE (CBS: 21% rostered, ESPN: 1% rostered)

Chase DeLauter is doing everything possible to attract the Guardian’s attention and should see Cleveland soon. At Triple-A Columbus, he has gone 28-for-90 with four home runs, 15 RBI, and a .949 OPS. His current BB/K ratio is an impressive 19/14. He’s finally healthy, so what are the Guardians waiting for? Pick up the phone and get him into that Cleveland lineup quickly.

Caleb Durbin, 2B/3B, MIL (CBS: 23% rostered, ESPN: 5% rostered)

The former Yankee farmhand has had an excellent week, going 12-for-24 at the plate with a homer and four RBIs. Get him active and make the most of this current streak.

Jacob Lopez, SP, ATH (CBS: 49% rostered, ESPN: 8% rostered)

After back-to-back blowups at the end of May/beginning of June in which Lopez allowed a total of 12 earned runs against the Blue Jays and Twins including a whopping five homers, Lopez has found a groove and has now tossed a total of 23 innings in his next four outings in which he has allowed no homers and a total of one earned run. He has also struck out 29 batters over that span. Take what you can take while it’s there for the taking.

Jake McCarthy, OF, ARZ (CBS: 5% rostered, ESPN: 4% rostered)

The injuries just won’t fade in Phoenix. The latest player heading to the IL is Corbin Carroll, who is dealing with a fractured left wrist. The DBacks have called up Jake McCarthy again, and the expectations should be the same as every other time he gets the call. He offers decent stolen base potential and limited power, assuming he gets enough playing time since Alek Thomas, Randal Grichuk, an Tim Tawa will all be competing for at-bats.

Ryne Nelson, SP/RP, ARZ (CBS: 47% rostered, ESPN: 9% rostered)

In his last six starts, Ryne Nelson has earned three wins (which is a solid two-month total for Paul Skenes), and aside from a blow-up against the Reds on June 4, he has been pitching exceptionally well. In those other five starts, he allowed only three earned runs total. In his last two starts, he has given up just two hits over 10 2/3 innings. It’s time to prize into your FAAB with a reasonably heavy bid.

Editors Note:  Out of the blue, beating up the Pirates is not condoned by management. It’s funny, though!

Gary Sanchez, C, BAL (CBS: 13% rostered, ESPN: 3% rostered)

Adley Rutschman has gone to the IL with a strained oblique, and a return sometime around the end of July seems likely. In the meantime, Gary Sanchez should get regular playing time, and if his two home runs and seven RBIs in the past week are any sign, he can be more than capable as a second catcher in two-catcher sets.

Cam Schlittler, SP, NYY (CBS: 3% rostered, ESPN: not listed)

Schlittler pitched well at Double-A, and since being promoted to Triple-A, he has elevated his game even further, posting a 1.69 ERA in four starts with an impressive 33/8 K/BB ratio. It seems he’s very close to being ready to head to the Bronx, and if you currently have room on your reserve roster, he’s a solid stash for the second half.

Carson Seymour, SP, SFG (CBS: 1% rostered, ESPN: not rostered)

Seymour received the call in San Francisco, and with the Giants’ rotation being very full, he is likely to spend his time in the bullpen as a long reliever until injury or ineffectiveness (yes, I’m looking at you Hayden Birdsong and the seven earned runs in your last outing) open up better opportunities. A small bid, especially in NL-only formats, is advisable.

Brandon Walter, SP/RP, HOU (CBS: 17% rostered, ESPN: 10% rostered)

After the seven earned run debacle against the Angels, Brandon Walter bounced back nicely by allowing only one earned run Friday night against the Cubs, earning his first MLB win. In 29 2/3 innings this season, he has a 30/2 K/BB ratio. That’s quite impressive and hopefully enough to keep him in the ‘Stros rotation when Lance McCullers returns.

Closer Report

Grant Taylor, CWS (CBS: 13% rostered, ESPN: 1% rostered)

Taylor currently has a low ERA (2.80) and an even lower WHIP (.80). Add in his strikeout per inning rate, along with two saves and a hold in his last three appearances, and it looks like the somewhat shaky White Sox bullpen has finally found their ninth-inning option.
