  1. Keith law updated his top 25 now since several promotions have happened…thoughts on his new top 25? I’m a jp Crawford owner so I was thrilled to see him 4th now

  2. Hi Rich- Dee Gordon or Bogaerts in a Dynasty league?

  3. Rich, Thank you for all your great feedback, write-ups, and podcasts.

Im contemplating making a trade for a 2B in H2H dynasty league for two players that both have 7 years of ownership eligibility left. They are Dee Gordon and Anthony Rendon. You recently talked highly of Gordon and he is solid for fantasy roster and before that you talked about building a H2H roster based on speed and relievers to get to the playoffs. Because of these thoughts, I’m leaning towards Gordon, however, should I really consider Rendon who, when healthy, can really swing the bat?

Thanks again. There is no better combination of guys that I rely on for fantasy than you and Mr. McCleod.

    • Thanks for your kind words.

First, my comment about focusing on speed and pitching was for one-year leagues. Would I do it for a Dynasty? I’m not sure. I don’t play in a H2H Dynasty league. I will say that my approach is more trickery as opposed to playing the game. you should make the playoffs every year with it, but will it yield championships consistently? I’m not sure.

Gordon for Rendon. Rendon will give you all-around better stats and if he hits leadoff again, a ton of runs. Gordon value is in his speed and BA/OBP. I think Rendon will match his BA/OBP but not the speed.

Rendon is the better player and I would go there.

  4. Hello. Do you think its worth stashing Jon Singleton in a 12 team fantasy league? When do you think he will get the call? Also what about Stashing Joey Gallo? Any outfield prospects you think I should consider? I am really hurting at outfield due to injury. Thank you!

    • With Gattis and Carter , I’m not sure where he plays this year. Gallo. I think the Rangers pull a Kris Bryant and we see his debut on April 16th next year.

  5. obp league…If you already had Steven Vogt would you drop Yan Gomes to pick up Jacob Lindgren? his AAA stats are impressive: 11.86k/9 73.1 %LOB 1.23ERA 1.92FIP

  6. For next year, which pair do you like better?

    S. Castro
    Bogaerts

    Or

    Bogaerts
    Correa

Sorry if this is a duplicate post.

    Thanks!

  7. My Jose De Leon for their Aaron Nola… thoughts?

  8. Is Dee Gordon truly a top 2B and Dynasty league hot commodity or is the start to the season too go to be true?

    • He’s not a .400 hitter but in analyzing his stats, I see a solid .300 hitter, hitting at the top of the lineup with tons of stolen bases. That’s a very, very valuable property. Obviously, no power.

  9. Hi Rich. I know you’re a fan, and so am I, but is it time to cut ties with Hunter Harvey? I’m thinking about dropping him for Blake Snell. Too soon/drastic?? Should Snell be picked up regardless?

    Thanks for the insight!!

    • Snell should be picked up for sure. I like Harvey a lot, but that elbow sounds really dicey. I’d hate to cut him without confirmation that he needs TJS. If he does, then he’s only ownable in deep dynasty leagues.

  10. Hey Rich, 14-Team Keeper League and last year I picked your brain about up and comers and I was rewarded by picking up M. Betts, A. Russell and J. Pederson. Can you give me a list of 5 impact players (hitters or pitchers) for September call ups or to stash in (2) NA roster spots for next year. Most of your top Rookies are already being stashed but these names are still out there: J. De Leon, S. Matz, J. Taillon, A. Judge, A. Jackson, M. Harrison, T. Glassnow, JP Crawford, D. Dahl, etc…

Thanks, love the content you fellas put out there!

    • It’s so hard to say unless I know your total waiver wire, but the guys you’ve listed…most of them NEED to be owned and in a hurry. In order, Glasnow, Dahl, Judge, Crawford, Matz, Alex Jackson, De Leon, Taillon, and way down the list is Monte Harrison. Everyone but Harrison is an elite prospect.

  11. Rich,
I’ve got Heston on my bench in a 12 team H2H points league. Is it time to drop him and stash Matt Moore or Patrick Corbin? Or drop Fiers, Hammel, or Hughes and grab both?
Thanks. Keep up the great work!

  12. what can u tell me about yadiel rivera brewers? Not even on many prospect ranking but he is hitting and got moved to tripple a instead of arcia. sardinas, riviera, arcia what do you think they are going to do?

  13. Hey Rich,

What are your thoughts on Nick Castellanos? Also, what do you think of this trade:
10-team keeper league, I’m going for it this year
    I get:
    Edwin Encarnacion
    Robinson Cano
    Nick Castellanos
    I give:
    Nolan Arenado
    Sonny Gray

    Thanks

  14. HI Rich: I just realized that all the players in this equation are “your” guys, so I’m going to the well for some needed sustenance. Dalton Pompey and Eduardo Rodriguez are running through waivers in my deep (15-teams, 8-player bench) mixed re-draft league on Sunday morning. And the guy on my chopping block is either Giovanny Urshela or Miguel Sano. What do you think? Go for Pompey or Rodriguez? Kick to the curb Urshela or Sano? Thanks Rich, love the show!

  15. Jansen ($13) + Hutch ($5) for Rendon ($9) + Reed ($17) with $4 inflation each year?

It would be a move for the future, and a gamble on Rendon’s health. I don’t have much hope for Reed, but it could be worth a chance that he manages to turn it around and hang on to the job and that’s good enough for a closer.

Right now, Hutch is probably my 6th/7th best SP and I have Jose hopefully coming off the DL in the next 1-2 months and Norris + Eduardo Rodriguez probably coming up in the near future, so pitching is not a concern for me.

The concern is Rendon’s health, but at that salary it seems to be worth the risk at the price of a closer (though an elite one)

    • Tough one…Reed lost the job but he could get it back. But to get Rendon at $9 based on the prices here, it seems like a worthy gamble. Yes, he could be injury prone, but I think it’s worth the risk.

  16. With the increasing likelihood of Carlos Correa getting called up sooner, would you rather keep Xander Bogaerts or trade him for Correa in a 14team Dynasty League?

  17. Would you trade rizzo and Dahl for harper and bird? I hesitate because rizzo is young and in the middle of an improving cub lineup and Dahl is a good bat in Colorado…but it is harper who is still in early 20s

  18. Rich,
12-team H2H points league with 30 man rosters. I was able to get Kluber for Robertson+Vogt. Score! Now having trouble finding a #2 catcher waiting for d’Arnaud to come back. Who do you like best for points: Zunino, Chirinos, McCann, Rosario, Susac? Perez? Looks like McCann may get more PT with Avila going to the DL
    Thanks as always.

  19. Hey Rich….would you rather have Alex Reyes or Eduardo Rodriquez?…irrelevant of who will make the big leagues first(as that certainly will be e-rod) thanks!

    • That’s a really good question. Reyes for upside if you like to play it that way, but Rodriguez has a chance to see the majors this year and could also be very good. If I’m rebuilding, Reyes, if competing, Rodriguez.

  20. Thanks for the mid-week podcast. On your advice I dropped Matt Moore and picked up Noah Syndergaard, then it’s announced that my new acquisition will be starting on Tuesday! There was one other pitcher returning from TJS that I’d like to hear your opinion on: Jose Fernandez. What should we expect from him? In my keeper league I was offered Fernandez and Springer for my Bumgarner and Andrew Miller. I can see the upside, but would I be giving away an ace and a top closer in their primes for the next Kris Medlen and Chris Young? Thanks!

  21. Who do you like better long term? Dilson Herrera or Devon Travis?

  22. Rich,
I was just offered McGee for Hahn in my points league. Both have question marks that can be summed up with this one: Who is more likely to see the 7th and/or 8th inning?
    Thanks

  23. Hey Rich,

What’s going on with Mondesi Jr?

Only 1 game played this year?

  24. Hi Rich,

    Swihart
    Sano
    D. Herrera
    T. Walker

    For

    Rendon
    Bumgarner

We are 4-0 and have a good team with a legit shot to repeat. Are we crazy to do this deal for this year? Are we trading away the future? Rendon and Bum are still young guys too.

Lastly, does Rendon’s injury history scare you enough not to make this deal?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Thanks

  25. Really enjoy the podcast, especially becoming twice a week!

With the defensive shift becoming so prevalent and lowering pull hitters’ BABIP, how can I find who is being shifted against most? C. Santana and Teixeira have to be at the top of that list, do you know where I could find that info? Thanks!

  26. I have no real shortstop on my nl team right now. I do however own orlando arcia. With the brewers struggles and the fact that Arcia is hitting the ball so well as a 20 yr old in Biloxi do you foresee or have you heard of any talk of him getting the call up this year?

  27. I picked up lorenzen in my nl only pool. While keith law stated in his last game against the brewers that his fastball looked flat and had nothing else to get hitters off of it, something about him reminds me of a degrom. Am wrong? do you think maybe it was the jitters in his first game? is there more there? Or does he need more time?

    • He was a closer in college and could wind up back there. Fastball would play up. deGrom is uber-athletic and while Lorenzen is just fine, he’s not close to deGrom from an athleticism standpoint. It’s what allows him to repeat his delivery. Plus, deGrom’s stuff is better.

Lorenzen is a #4 starter in my book. He’s ok…

  28. What do you think of Balbino Fuenmayor 3B KC? He tore it up last year in Independent league and is now in Double A.

What do you think of Trevor Story? He’s tearing it up in the minors now and if he makes the big leagues he has Coors field as his home park. I know as of now he’s blocked by Tulo.

    • I honestly don’t know who Balbino Fuenmayor is…sorry. Sounds like a made-up name…LOL.

Unless Tulo gets moved. Still struggles with his approach, but is athletic and barrels the ball up. He’s far from Tulo, but a 11 HR/15 SB profile hitting .260 feels about right. He’s ok, not a star.

  29. Looking for advice. Offered Nelson Cruz and DeGrom for my Corey Seager. My roster is below. I’m competing this year. I’ve already traded Betts and Segura for McCutchen and Dozier. I’ve traded Springer for Desmond and Souza (and 3rd round pick). Both deal don’t look good right now
Now I have this offer. I’d be all in for this year. Thoughts? 6×6 Roto. 16 team. 8 keeper plus two prospects. Seager was one of my 8 keepers.
    C- Molina, D’Araud
    1b- Adams
    2b- Dozier
    3b- Arenado
    SS-Desmond/iglesias
    OF- McCutchen
    OF- Pederson
    OF- Souza
    UTL- Bryant
    SP- Cole
    SP-Arrieta
    RP-Street
    RP-Soria
    P- Paxton
    P- McHugh
    P-Burnett
    BEN-C. Seager
    BEN: Alex Guerrero
    BEN: Michael Taylor

    Prospects: Russell and Moncada

I’m gun shy because the two big deals have not worked out thus far.

    Appreciate it Rich.

  30. Dear Rich.

    I play in a 20 team 11 Keeper/7 Prospect (130ABS/50IP Limit) Keeper League.

Right now Michael Lorenzen is on waivers and I own the #1 Wavier Priority. Is he worth the add? Or should I wait until Yahoo adds a guy like INF Hector Olivera?

  31. Thank you for your input on Jeff Hoffman and Jose DeLeon – I feel like we have a great potential front line of SP due to you advice.

I have another question sir – if you were near the bottom 3rd in steals (but lurking in the top 5 overall) in a 20 team Dynasty…and had Chase Utley at 2B – would you start the clock on your farm stud Dilson Herrera next week?

If I bring him up now, the clock starts and his salary begins escalating next year. Also worried that I’ll miss out on Utley’s eventual rise to the 250 range, perhaps more if he gets traded and has a honeymoon period? Or am I kidding myself on where Utley is, career wise?

Thank you again for the advice!

  32. Would u give up Sonny Gray and Alex Gordon to get Jon Lester and Steven Souza? Obp dynasty league

    • Gray > Lester and Souza > Gordon. Gotta go with the bat and hope that Lester will learn to throw to first…it can’t be that hard…I would do it but it’s not a slam dunk.

  33. what are your thoughts on Yimi Garcia? I have to admit I knew next to nothing about him until he turned up on my weekly waiver wire audit…his advanced metrics look great both in MLB(14.9 k/9 0.65fip 2.04xfip) & last few season in Minors…is he for real?

    • I never saw him play coming through the system, or don’t remember. Doesn’t throw particularly hard and throws almost all fastballs. Strikes out a ton. THat’s all I know…sorry.

  34. I’m in a 12 mixed keeper. C,1B,2B,3B,SS, OF x3, util, 1450 innings.

Must keep 5 players in the first 5 rounds. All other players are kept at a 3 round penalty from the previous year. So if Trout was kept as a 14th rd pick this year, next year he is 11th, then 8th the following year.

I’m the defending champ and have a good team. I’m offered Rollins (top 5), Jorge Soler (19th), and a 23rd rd pick for Jose Reyes (top 5), Osuna (22nd), Schwarber (22nd) and a 6th rd pick. Is Soler worth the over pay? How do you project is upside line vs Schwarber? Views on Osuna?

    • Tough call…Rollins is about done, so it’s really Soler at a nice round and a late round pick for Reyes who still has some value and Top 5 at least next year, Osuna (who’s upside is a closer, but who knows) and Schwarber who could be really good. After writing it, yeah, I think I do it. Reyes is always injured and is on the brink of dropping out of the Top 5 rounds (ADP last year was 46, which is bottom of the 4th in your format). The 19th round is very alluring. If Osuna becomes the closer…it’s probably a bad deal, but who knows…I’d do it.

  35. Love the podcast and the content Rich. Keep it up.
I was offered Wainwright for Robertson and Hahn in a 12 team POINTS league with 30 man rosters. I’m concerned about Waino’s declining K rate but I have to accept right? FA pickup include possibles Feliz, Reed, Parnell, or slide Wood into my RP and grab from the likes of Walker, Worley, Collmentor, Limcecum, etc. Thoughts?

  36. You mentioned Jose De Leon of Dodgers in podcast. I was hoping to see a writeup in your most recent Scouting Notes article. Do you have a writeup in the works? I’d just like to get your impression on what you saw with him.

  37. Rich,
I know it is early, but would you drop any of the following to stash Addison Russell in a 12-team points league with 30 man rosters (start 23 weekly), with 8 keepers (my current keeps are solid): Pearce, D. Santana, Hahn, Pomeranz, Hammel or Fiers. Literally typing this as you talk about Russell on the podcast.
    Thanks

  38. Tommy murphy is off to a hot start this year! Are hundley and Mckenry just keeping the bench warm for him? Does he have allstar potential? Strikes out quite a bit. Do you think he can hit for a decent avg?

    • also since we are talking catchers obrien for tha backs is on fire as well. between obrien or murphy who would u rather have?

      • O’Brien will not be a catcher in the majors. I like the bat , but it will be in the outfield. I like Murphy a lot and being in Colorado will only help his offensive game. Plus, he’ll be a big upgrade from Rosario defensively. He lost nearly a year to shoulder problems and at 24-years-old, I would expect the Rockies to move him to AAA by June, assuming he continues to rake. Denver won’t be long afterwards.

  39. In a 16 team h2h pts league. In a rebuild stage and im about a year out and looking to ship ottavino out and have quite a few offers floating. What one do you prefer and rank them if possible:

    Offer 1:
    Ottavino for Shane Greene

    Offer2:
    Ottavino for dee gordon

    Offer 3:
Ottavino for chi chi gonzales and farquhar

    Offer 4:
Ottavino for chi chi and 1.06 amatuer pick

  40. Rich!! Love the podcast, man. I am a first time Fantasy Baseball player this year and stumbled on your podcast in the store, and I’m loving it so far!! You and Tim are awesome.

Question: one guy in my league offered me Miguel Cabrera for Mookie Betts and Mark Trumbo. Should I take this trade? Mookie seems like he is on the verge of a breakout year, but I could really use the power. Unfortunately, I drafted Rendon and I would have no replacement at 2nd base as it stands. But luckily, I noticed Devon Travis on the wire and could add him as a flyer atleast until Rendon returns. Any advice?

    • Welcome to world of fantasy baseball.

Yeah, I think I do that deal. Love Mookie and do believe he’s poised for a breakout but Miggy plus Travis (off the wire) for Trumbo and Mookie. Yelp…you have to do that deal.

      Good luck.

  41. Hey Rich,
With his hot start, do you see Alex Guerrero getting regular at bats in the near future? Would you drop any of the following in a points league? Danny Santana, Steve Pearce, Jesse Hahn?

    • I just don’t know…he can’t play defense and the new regime in LA values that. I’ve never been a fan of Danny Santana and believe the AG has way more offense upside. The playing time is the key and it’s a tough call at this juncture and you can’t just add him as he’s an extra bat at the moment. Urbie is also a big-time team leader, so it’s a tough situation.

  42. OBP dynasty league…rather have Souza or Desmond Jennings. ..and how close is it…thanks

  43. Trade question: 14 Team, Head-to-Head, Dynasty League: Would you trade Syndergaard (a 18 Rd keeper next year) for either Daniel Norris or D. Hutchinson (both and 21 Rd keeper next year). Little concerned with Syndergaards continued troubles and now the forearm injury and both Norris and Hutch seem like young studs in the making in their own right.

    Thanks Rich!

  44. hey rich,

Reamulto just got called up. I am in a NL dynasty league. Would you drop the rockies Mckenry for a chance to get reamulto now? I am competing this year my team looks good so what are the risks?

  45. Oh – I heard you mention going out to see Rancho Cucamonga. Is Jose DeLeon the real deal? Speaking of Dodgers, what about Julian Leon (will he stick at catcher)?

  46. Hey rich,

    A penny for your thoughts

In my dynasty league I just got offered will myers and dj Peterson for my Corey seagar

  47. Long time listener!

Any thoughts on Michael Cederoth? Can he stick at SP? Future CL or arm injury?

Also curious about Ramon Flores – looks like a hitter but not sure what position he fits?

    • Cederoth is a big kid with a big arm. Control will always be his problem, much like Alex Meyer. I think you’re right, the ceiling is a closer. Flores is an extra bat for me.

  48. sorry forgot to add some to the end…could Steven Matz be this years Jacob DeGrom? and not just because he plays for the same org LOL….his first outing was solid: 5 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 84 pitches, 50 strikes…chances he makes the bigs this year? Would you drop Pedro Strop to pick him up right now? Might sound silly but Pedro helps me now, but if I know Matz could help me this year I’d prob do it.

  49. could Steven Matz be this years Jacob DeGrom? and not just because he plays for the same org LOL….his first outing was solid: 5 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 84 pitches, 50 strikes…chances he makes the bigs this year?

  50. Can you name me some of your favorite bats not on the top 100 list? Thanks!
